‘The sins of the Fathers’... visited on our school children
AS IS NOW well known, the Church of Ireland and Roman Catholic primary teacher training facilities in Dublin are being merged into a single institution under the aegis of Dublin City University, students and staff of the C of I College of Education being re-located on the campus of St Patrick’s College, Drumcondra.
The Historic Linkage Agreement between CICE and DCU was signed on February 15, 2015, by the President of DCU, Professor Brian MacCraith, and the Rt Revd Michael Jackson, Archbishop of Dublin. The previous June a document was launched: A New Vision of Education for all the Children of Ireland, setting out the agreed proposals. According to these, “the greater part of the subject material... shall be provided in common to all students”. However there will be separate training provided relating specifically to needs of schools under Church of Ireland or Roman Catholic patronage.
